The Star of the Adventure
The Serengeti is the star of this week-wildebeest migration safari. This area, fed by the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers, guarantees a constant presence of animals.
Central Serengeti Highlights
After exploring this vibrant area with a series of enthralling game drives, we move on to Central Serengeti. This region could justifiably claim to be the hub of the Serengeti’s wildlife watching action, where predator-prey interactions are a common sight.
The Grand Finale
The grand finale of our Tanzania Wildebeest Migration Safari tour takes place away from the Serengeti at Ngorongoro. This extraordinary conservation area, with its huge volcanic crater at its center, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour Plan
  Â
At the Kilimanjaro international Airport, you will be picked up and driven in a private vehicle to Arusha, where you will have welcoming dinner and spend a night. Before your big adventure begins, you may have time to take a walking tour through a coffee plantation or choose to visit Arusha National Park, if time permits. Include are dinner and stay at the joy land hotel or comparable Facility.
Unless your arrival time yesterday allowed time for your safari briefing, then this will take place after morning breakfast. We will provide you with all the essential information, before we set off in our vehicle for our first destination, Ndutu. Our adventure really begins as we introduce ourselves to this region with an afternoon game drive. In the late afternoon, we take you to your chosen accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
Ndutu is a real hotspot for wildlife during these rainy months, wildebeest and their accompanying zebra, often in their tens of thousands, choose Ndutu as part of their great migration. It forms an integral part of the annual ritual. And where the herds wander, the predators are never far away, so wildlife viewing here can be dramatic. A fascinating landscape is the setting for our afternoon game drive today. In the distance lie nine dormant volcanoes and one active. In times gone by, it was the ash that blew in this direction that shaped the soil here. Ndutu itself is located partially in the Serengeti, and partially in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As well as the resident’s populations of lions, cheetah and spotted hyena, there is also lesser- spotted wildlife here, so you keep your eyes open for aardvark, porcupine and civet cats.
With a full day to explore this diverse area, your driver guide will have plenty of opportunity to show you some excellent wildlife and explain the fragile, fascinating ecosystem of the region.
Ndutu can be considered in many respects as a continuation of the endless plains of the southern Serengeti. But as it actually lies in part within the Ngorongoro conservation area, there is the possibility-ground conditions permitting to go off-road which is permissible here. A characteristic feature of this area is the collection of small, salty, lakes, whose water allows wildlife to exist here throughout the year. Among the most important of the water courses is Lake Masek, which is comparatively deep and thus remains more or less Ndutu, nearby is shallower and varies greatly according to the seasons, fed by a combination of rainfall, springs and rivers. At this time of the year, Ndutu is one of the best places to see, sight migrating herds who seek out the short, nutritious grass and choose this area to give birth. The richness of the vegetation gives them the best chance of survival, but with predators everywhere, survival is by no means guaranteed.
After breakfast, and a final morning game drive in Ndutu, we set off for our next destination, the central Serengeti a journey time of 1and half hours (80km). On arrival, we take hot lunch and have a nap of our first game drive in the central Serengeti.
As you drive, the sheer vastness of the Serengeti plains will overwhelm you as will the seemingly countless herds of wildlife who cross the landscape on their annual trek, safari in central Serengeti in the afternoon, after our relatively short drive. In the afternoon the game drive will introduce you to this wildlife hub. The distinctive rocky outcrops or kopjes, will soon become familiar to you, don’t ignore these as the animals certainly don’t. Big cats occasionally use these as spots for sunbathing or lookout posts. At the end of your game drive, drive back to the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.
Early in the morning after breakfast, we set off from our accommodation in central Serengeti wildlife is abundant here. Sometimes you may think it has come to find you rather than the way around. Today’s highlight is unknown, as the animals don’t publish their schedule, we will be mindful of the migratory movements, of course, but this area is where bush land meets grassland, so a favorites spot for big cats looking for prey. Cheetahs, leopards and lions are all possibilities today.
Waking up in the Serengeti is something really special. Sights, sounds and smells of Africa are all around us and a head is a full day of adventure in the world’s most famous national park. In the morning we start the day with our game drive in Serengeti National Park, marveling at the stunning scenery, ever-changing light and always entertaining wildlife, all explained to you by your expert driver guide.
After breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro conservation area with your packed in tow. After your lunch on the way, adds to the crater rim for your dinner and overnight stay at the Ngorongoro, it’s your choice whether you pass by Oldupai Gorge, a historical site where the early man lived, and can also pass by the Masai Boma if you are interested in the real African life tradition and culture.
After our morning visit to the incomparable crater – see below – and then lunch, we will have a 5- hour journey, covering 250km back to Kilimanjaro international Airport.
After breakfast from our accommodation, we set off at 6am depart to reach the rim and then descend into the vast crater itself. On one side there’s the Lerai forest, a classic mountain forest landscape with almost tropical characteristics. This is good elephant country, so keep your eyes peeled. By the side of the nearby the (elephant graveyard) as the mighty male tuskers at the end of their lives come to chew on the soft, swampland grasses once their teeth have failed them.
