Day 1: Arrival in Uganda
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your driver-guide and transferred to your hotel in Kampala for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, begin the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorilla. The drive takes in views of the Kigezi highlands and terraced hillsides, with stops at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe and in Mbarara for lunch.
Continue to Bwindi Forest, arriving in the evening. Check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest
Today brings a face-to-face encounter with the endangered mountain gorilla. Wake early for breakfast before heading to the park headquarters, where you will join other visitors for a briefing, be grouped into eight, and assigned a gorilla family to trek.
The trek into Bwindi’s forest takes two to four hours or more, depending on where the gorillas settled the previous night. Once you locate a habituated troop, you are permitted to spend an hour in their presence, watching them play, feed, and groom each other. Afterward, trek back to the starting point, meet your driver-guide, and return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Batwa Cultural Experience, Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Today brings an encounter with the Batwa, former residents of the Bwindi forest and one of Africa’s most historically marginalized communities, who once co-existed with the forest and still contribute to its conservation. Interacting with them directly is the best way to understand their culture and way of life before their eviction from the forest.
After breakfast, follow one of the cultural trails maintained by communities that once shared the forest with the gorillas. You will be entertained by local dance and drama, visit the local medicine man, and see traditional hunting techniques demonstrated, along with a taste of local dishes. Afterward, continue to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 5: Lake Bunyonyi Island Tour
Lake Bunyonyi’s name loosely translates from the local Rukiga language as “the place of many little birds.” Today you will tour the lake by boat, visiting several of its islands and learning the stories behind them — including Punishment Island, historically used to abandon young unmarried pregnant women, a difficult but important part of the area’s history.
Later in the day, take part in a cultural experience on one of the islands, sharing lunch with the local community.

Day 6: Ankole Cultural Tour
After breakfast, drive to Mbarara for an Ankole cultural tour, visiting a farm to experience the traditional way of life associated with Uganda’s long-horned Ankole cattle. Enjoy the countryside’s rolling hills and a relaxed afternoon.

Day 7: Traditional Homestead Experiences
Your day starts before dawn, joining local herdsmen to milk the long-horned Ankole cows and learn about the traditions surrounding this daily ritual. Afterward, return for breakfast.
