September 14, 20264 Days Zanzibar Beach Holiday
For travelers wanting a short, well-rounded introduction to Zanzibar rather than a full week on one beach, this 4 Days Zanzibar Beach Holiday combines Stone Town’s history with two of the island’s best half-day excursions: a dolphin tour off Kizimkazi and a walk through Jozani Forest, home to the rare red colobus monkey.
Zanzibar is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean made up of two main islands, Unguja and Pemba, plus a scattering of smaller ones. Unguja; commonly just called Zanzibar, stretches roughly 85 kilometers long and 39 kilometers wide and holds its own among the region’s best-known island destinations, with resorts and beach hotels to match. This itinerary bases you in Stone Town, the island’s UNESCO-listed capital, giving you easy access to both the historic center and the excursions on the southern coast.
This trip works well as a standalone beach break or as an add-on to a mainland safari through Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, or Uganda. Travelers who want more beach time and less sightseeing can trim the excursions; those who want deeper cultural context can extend by a day or two to add Nungwi in the north.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar
On landing at Zanzibar International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to Stone Town. Check in at your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure, or take a short walk around the old town.
Accommodation: Tembo Hotel
Meal Plan: Dinner
Day 2: Jozani Forest & Dolphin Tour
After an early breakfast, your guide will collect you for a combined Jozani Forest and Kizimkazi dolphin tour.
The Kizimkazi dolphin tour offers the chance of a lifetime: swimming with dolphins in their natural habitat. The waters off this fishing village are home to pods of humpback and bottlenose dolphins, protected within the 420-square-kilometer Menai Bay Conservation Area, established in 1997 to halt the rapid decline of local fish stocks. After lunch at a restaurant in Kizimkazi, head to Jozani Forest for the second half of the day.
The Jozani Forest tour takes you along a nature trail through Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, where smaller trees and shrubs form sub-canopies beneath the forest’s tallest trees. The park is best known as home to the red colobus monkey, a rare species found almost nowhere else in the world. Return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Accommodation: Tembo Hotel
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 3: Full Day Stone Town & Spice Farms Tour
After breakfast, set out on a Stone Town tour for a close look at local life. This historic and atmospheric quarter is the cultural heart of Zanzibar, built from coral stone across the 19th and 20th centuries. Its narrow streets, carved wooden doors, and lively markets tell the story of generations of traders, sultans, and explorers, and in 2000 the town was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Your guide will lead you through iconic landmarks including the old slave market, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace, tracing the blend of Arabic, African, Indian, and European influences that shaped the town.

After lunch, head out on a spice farm tour to see (and taste) the crops Zanzibar is famous for — cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, and cinnamon — with the option to buy some to take home. Return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
